I've always wanted to take a look inside the Hearst building, one of New York's "greenest" office buildings. You may recall that I showed the outside last year some time (can't find it now!) and recently I had a chance to peek into the lobby. I don't know if there's anything especially green about this escalator, but I liked the cool angle to it. I looks like some ghosts were walking through the front too!

Green buildings are one of my interests. If, by chance, this is one of those escalators that stops running when no one is on it, it's definitely green.
Thanks for going inside miss b.
j'adore cet immeuble, mais je suis jamais rentré, c'est interdit ?
On voit des fantômes sur ta photo ;o) cela rend très bien.
I love this building, but I'm not Retracted is prohibited?
One sees ghosts on your photo ;o) makes it very well.
That's a long escalator, and it looks like it only goes up two floors, though it may go up three.
When I took a glimpse, I thought it looked like ghosts walking about too.....then I thought naaaah, must be a reflection!
Coucou Lori,
Great artistic photo with a real neat composition and effect with the steel escalator in the middle going up to the top. I love it. Where are the people?
PS: I tried to post a comment on your reflection entry, but I had some problems with my account and lost everything I guess. It happens sometimes since my son, Alex, used to take care of our blog before and had another identity.
Anyway, I remember it was about the warm color and also the interesting shape (like a globe) of the picture.
Have a good day.
It looks more silver than green. :) But nice though. I like the angles too.
I like the way you shot this, the framing is perfect. The more one looks, the more one sees.
great shot - i like all the lines and angles in it.
Great angle, Lori! I always wondered how it looked inside, so thanks to take us in! I hear the one next door (Bank of America headquarters) beats them now in terms of green-ness. We need to find a spy to get us inside of that one! ;)
Oh wait, I was too fast: I am confusing the Hearst Building with the Condé Nast Building. Where is the Hearst Building located? Is that the one all in glass with a losange pattern, which they built on top of an existing façade? Around W50ish?
Hi everyone!
Eliane, the Hearst building is the one built on that old facade. The one you mentioned, I think it's on 57th and 8th (or 9th maybe?) I think it's 8th though.
I really like this composition.
Is this the building with geothermal heating and rainwater recycling that was touted in NY Magazine about a year ago?
Great photo! Love all the competing lines. Thanks for showing us this!
