Game

I guess hockey can be a year-round activity on roller blades and no ice is needed. Perfect for a city playground!

Lines

I saw this strange pattern on the sidewalk in Soho. It must be some type of art, but I didn't see any signs. I wonder who created it?

Quilts 2

I couldn't resist posting one more photo from that Quilt exhibit I saw over the weekend. I was so amazed by the patterns and the craftsmanship!

Quilts

This weekend I visited "Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of American Quilts," an exhibition at the Park Avenue Armory and it was magnificent!! There are 650 red and white quilts that all belong to the same person, Joanna Rose. The exhibition was an 80th birthday present from her husband and a gift to New York in that the exhibit was free. It was just amazing! If you are anywhere near New York you should come and see it. It's only here until March 30.

Hotel

Isn't this a cool looking hotel? The High Line Park goes right under it. The guests must have quite a view. And the walkers on the High Line must have a good view of the guests too. Hope you have a good weekend!

Umbrellas

This is a hot dog stand, seen from above. I liked the colorful umbrellas. You never notice those when you see them from street level.

Cool building

I walked past this new building the other day that I think was on 16th Street. It was so new that they haven't taken the tape off the windows yet. I'm curious as to what is going in there. I'll have to walk by again in a few months and see what is happening.

Highest point

One of the parks in my neighborhood is Bennett Park in which is found the highest natural point in Manhattan (265 feet above sea level). There's a small marker that points out that spot, in what was the location of Fort Washington, the Revolutionary War camp of George Washington and his troops (at least according to wikipedia.)

Skyline

I was hoping to get a photo of the giant moon this past weekend from my friend's terrace. I couldn't get any good ones so I have to show the buildings instead. I always love seeing that view!

Posters

This is another photo near 14th Street. You can tell the weather is getting warmer because people aren't wearing any coats. Let's hope it holds this weekend. Have a good one!

Dome

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I was searching for something green to post and this was all I could come up with. This is the top of an old bank, now a drug store, on 14th Street. I wonder if you can still see out from the top.

Museum

Here's another photo I took at the museum on Sunday, this is looking out towards the sculpture garden, which is pretty empty this time of year. Not sure what the sculpture is in the foreground.

Sewing machines

I passed this store in Tribeca last weekend and the window display was entirely old sewing machines. It was huge! I wish I had gone inside to see them up close. I can't remember the name of the store unfortunately.

Plant pods

This is part of an exhibit in the lobby of the Museum of Modern Art by the artist and landscape architecht Paula Hayes. This particular one is called Slug. They seem to be doing a good job of keeping the plants green. You can read more about it here.

Seafood

I wonder if these are soft shell crabs? They seemed to have a lot of them on a recent trip to Chinatown. I have yet to try one. Have a great weekend and hope it won't be rainy like in New York!

Roses 2

This is another shot of "The Roses" the exhibit along Park Avenue by the artist Will Ryman. I'm sorry you can't see the colors too well in this shot. I was passing by at dusk and took this just as it was getting dark. These flowers are the perfect installation after a long winter.

Doors

Whenever I pass these doors it always seems to me that they belong in Europe somewhere rather than in midtown Manhattan. I love those carved lions in the middle. Have a good Wednesday!

Flowers

No, these aren't spring blossoms yet, but some lights I saw on a tree recently. You can see the Plaza Hotel a little bit in the background. Hopefully one of these days I'll take some photos of some real spring flowers.

Bauble

This past weekend I saw the Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry exhibit at the Cooper Hewitt museum. This is one of the baubles in a magnifier. The jewels were quite beautiful. Unfortunately I didn't get a close-up of any of them. My favorite was a diamond ring owned by Greta Garbo. I wish I could have tried it on!!

Greens

This is one of the vegetable displays I saw in Flushing a few weekends ago. I'm not sure what it is (it's not scallions or spinach.) Oh well, it will remain a mystery. Have a great weekend!

Bakers

These are some bakers at work inside one of the shops at the Chelsea Market. I love to watch them work. Maybe I should try that job some day.

Bridge

This is a detail from the Brooklyn Bridge. I suppose I've shown this one before, I can't remember. Once again, I'm running low on photos. Hopefully I can find some new ones soon.

7 Train

Here's a random shot taken from the 7 train a few weeks back looking out towards Long Island City. You can still see snow on the ground, which luckily we don't have anymore!
