Enjoy the memorial day weekend and do something relaxing, like this couple in the park. See you next week!

Jose Marti

This is the statue of Jose Marti the Cuban patriot and author, which is located in Central Park. I believe the flowers were marking the anniversary of his death on May 19, 1895. I'm afraid I don't know much about him.

Dancer

This is one of the dancers from Drums Along the Hudson a festival of Native American culture that takes place in Inwood Park in Northern Manhattan. That park is a great place for the festival because it is supposedly in that area where Peter Minuit purchased Manhattan from the Lenape tribe.

Zodiac Heads

There's a new public art work on display near the Plaza Hotel. Called Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads it was created by the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei. Each statue represents one of the animals of the zodiac. You can read more about it in this article.

I luv NY

I got a kick out of this license plate that I passed recently in my neighborhood. That must be a real New York fan there! Have a nice week!

Tennis

Maybe I should take tennis lessons this summer. They have some beautiful clay courts at 96th Street in Riverside Park. There are lots of nice places to play tennis in New York. I think I might take it up again. Have a great weekend!

Store Sign

I always like coming across old signs like this one. It's like a relic from another time. This one was on a drug store on the upper east side.

Lighthouse

The lighthouse under the George Washington Bridge was open for visitors recently. I'm not sure how far you can see from the top. You can see how dreary the weather has been here recently.

Horses

This was a demonstration I saw recently of some of the horses used in the play War Horse, which is now running at the Lincoln Center Theater. The horses are so believable you can hardly believe they are moved by people. I'd love to see that show!

Vegas

Sorry for the absence I was away for a bit, and you can tell where. Had a fun time in Vegas! Back to New York photos soon!

Riverside Park

This is another spring scene with lots of people out enjoying the weather and the scenery. This was taken in Riverside Park, which runs alongside the Hudson River.

Spring scene

The trees are all blooming and the boats are starting to reappear along the Hudson. This was near the 79th Street Boat Basin. It looked so inviting to be out on the water!
