Another outfit

Here's another interesting outfit I saw at Union Square. This person was part of a musical group performing in the Union Square subway station. There are some very good performers in the subways these days. I believe they have to audition and be approved to be "official" performers in the subway system. She has one of the official MTA Arts for Transit signs, so I guess she passed the audition. (Sorry for the quality of the photo, the light was terrible.) Enjoy the weekend!

I'll bet there aren't many subways that just let buskers plop down wherever they feel like it.

Vancouver gives them certain times and probably has an audition. Personally, I'd put a moratorium on the Pan Flute guys for a few years.

When I got to NYC this trip the first subway stop I got off at had 3 guys playing trumpets, and they were very good. It was up tempo, they were waving at the passengers and I bet it made most people feel happy.

il y a beaucoup de spectacles musicaux dans le métro New Yorkais et souvent c'est vraiment superbe.
Avec le dessin de l'aile derrière elle, on dirait une fée ;o)
Bon Weekend

With the design of the wing behind it, it looks like a fairy o)

At least they have entertainment to keep people amused even during hectic periods.

I'm guessing she was playing some type of avant garde music too?

Nothing better than street performers. I remember some from San Fran.

Whatever her musical act, I bet it was fun, Union Square is a prime location. Well before the license system, I remember one man who could be seen in various mid-town stations on the IND 8th Ave line, playing his mornful horn late in the evening, echoing off those hard surfaced walls. It was wonderful to hear, and in a way comfortig, as those were the bad days of the system and city.

The acoustics in a subway station must be, well, unique. Another good look at the NYC most people never see.
