Clouds

I'm afraid I can't tell you anything about this building, other than I think it is a hotel in Soho. I just liked the cloud pattern in this photo. I bet the hotel guests have a great view from up there. I hope you had a great weekend and a great week ahead!

Lanterns

This is a photo I took recenly on a street in Chinatown. I think that's 1 Centre Street, the Manhattan Municipal Building, in the background. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Police Building

Another building I passed the other day during my stroll down Grand Street, was the former Police headquarters building, which was left by the police in 1973 and turned into condominiums in 1987. You can read more about it here. There are 55 luxury apartments inside these days. Wouldn't it be fun to see inside one of them!?

Grand Street

Some random grafitti for today, or maybe that's not what you call this picture. I have no idea of the artist. I believe it was on grand street. I wonder how they got up there.

Bridge

For some reason the George Washington Bridge was all lit up yesterday (maybe it was for President's Day). Anyway, I've never seen it lit like that before. It was very beautiful, but unfortunately I can't take very good photos at night.

Roses

Even though it is supposed to snow here today, things are still blooming. This is part of an installation by the artist Will Ryman called "The Roses" and the flowers can be found on 10 blocks on Park Avenue. You can read more about it in this New York Times article about the installation. Have a good week.

Mastiff

One last dog from the Westminster Dog Show this week. I think this one is a mastiff. He was so cute! Enjoy your weekend!!

Westminster

I was lucky to go to the final night of the 135th Westminster Dog Show at Madison Square Garden this week. It was such fun to go "backstage" and see some of the dogs before the show. Isn't this one a beauty!! He wasn't very interested in looking at the camera.

Dumpling making

This is a dumpling making contest they were having in Flushing, Queens. I think those may be local elected officials participating. I'm not sure who the winner was. The was at the Flushing Mall and I think was part of the last day of celebrations of the lunar new year (year of the Rabbit).

Shaved ice!

Yes, it tasted better than it looks! This was Taiwanese shaved ice that I had in Flushing, Queens last weekend. I never knew there was such a thing before. They put the ice in first and you can choose your flavors for on top.

Museum

I didn't even know this place existed! I happened by it yesterday while heading to brunch and thought, I'd take a photo for my Valentine's day post. Have a nice Valentine's day!!

Seafood

This is a photo of a window display at Citarella, the specialty food store on the Upper West Side. They always have fancy displays created with seafood. You can tell I took this picture in warmer weather because of the sandaled foot in the reflection! Have a good weekend.

Staircase

I took this while passing one of the entrances to Lincoln Center the other day. The square facade in the middle of the shot (way in the back) is the entrance to the tents for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, which opens tomorrow.

Planetarium

A view of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History, from my visit a few weeks ago. The space show is really cool, and I'd recommend it if you are visitng.

Spring flowers

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I felt like showing something spring-like today. These flowers were from a visit to the botanic garden in Washington last year. I'm afraid spring flowers are still a ways off!

These are some beautiful cookies from a super bowl party I attended last night! Yay Packers! Happy Monday.

Pickles

There were some delicious looking pickles at the flea market on Columbus Avenue. I didn't buy any, maybe I'll go back this weekend and try some. Have a good weekend!

Mandala

We happened upon this sand mandala at the American Museum of Natural History last weekend. It was so popular, you couldn't even get close to it! At the end of the day they have a ceremony where a monk destroys the mandala, and the sand is put in a jar and later poured in the river. This is done to symbolize the acceptance of impermanence.

Armory Track

I happened upon the Armory Track and Field center recently and decided to go inside and take a look. Luckily a track meet was going on. The Armory is in Washinton Heights in Manhattan and in addition to numerous track meets all winter it houses the National Track and Field Hall of Fame.

Washington Square

Another snowy scene today, this one is in Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village. We've had such a snowy winter and still more to come!
