I always like seeing these advertisements from the past, especially the ones with the old phone numbers. For some reason it feels a little bit like going back in time. When they are covered over by new buildings or new signs, it seems like we lose a link with the old New York. I'm sure you must have signs like this in your cities too.

j'adore ces vieilles enseignes que l'on voit sur les murs de NYC. Je sais pas si tu connais ce site NEW YORK CITY SIGNS -- 14TH TO 42ND STREET superbe site sur les vieilles enseignes sur les murs de NYC
I adore these old signs which one sees on the walls of NYC. I do not know if you know this site NEW YORK CITY SIGNS -- superb 14TH TO 42ND STREET site on the old signs on the walls of NYC
That sounds a good idea for a post, thanks for the reminder.
Definitely from the past. There aren't too many wall signs like that in Honolulu, but signs over doorways ... yes, and some are quite old ...
Not too many of these things left but good to photograph them before they disappear altogether
To Rome there are not a lot of writings of this type (from us this type of great publicity was an unusual fact), but they are so beautiful that should be restored and preserved.
Good Olivier.
Yes, we do. And it makes me think about the old times, too. How different everything was. ...
Love the old advertising.
I've just done something with the pumpkin photo you sent me -- http://mandysmeanderings.blogspot.com/2007/09/pumpkin-juice.html
You're right, they definitely harken back to times past.
I always loved seeing the "See Rock City" signs painted on barn roofs all over the south. Most are gone now, but there's a few left.
We have a bird house with See Rock City painted on the roof like that.
I don't remember seeing too many of old signs like that around here.
Do you like live cams? Go to my personal site here: www.lv2scpbk.blogspot.com and click on the one you'd like to see. Elephants at Pete's pond right now. It's 4:20 pm EST here and 10:20 pm there in Africa.
Yes, I was thinking about my own phone number when I was a little girl...they don't have numbers like that now. We had a prefix that was a name. Our's was Mercury.
Sure Lori!! I remember seeing signs like those in my country n sometimes when I see those in old movies too..., then I remember my childhood days and the way we used to enjoy those products/things...!
great, your eye caught on these things!
(thanks for dropping by lovely comment on my post..:)
You should start a collection of these old painted signs. They won't be around forever! The old phone number exchange gives away the age on this one.
