Salzburg was such a lovely city and wonderful for exploring. The fortress that you can see on the top of the hill was built in 1077, amazing! I read that it is the oldest fortress in Europe that has survived intact. We went to a concert in the fortress and thought we might have to spend the night up there after they closed the lift. Salzburg at Night

Yes, it is beautiful there. I've been there about 22 years ago, also in winter, we were taking a horse drawn sleigh ride throught he city, that was very fun. I am glad you got to see all this!

Phew, you made it down! If you didn't, you would have been able to say casually "oh, I slept in a fortress from 1077", which does sound great in any cocktail party. ;)
