Gramercy Park

I took this picture last weekend of Gramercy Park. It is one of two private parks left in New York City. The residents of the surrounding buildings have keys to the park and they are the only ones who have access to it. (I stuck my camera in through the fence!) It used to be open to the public one day a year, but they stopped that last year. There are some lovely buildings surrounding it. I'll have to go back in the summertime and take another shot.

un bel endroit, le charme de NYC, tous ces petits parcs que l'on trouve en ce promenant.
C'est quoi comme statue au fond du parc ?

A beautiful place, the charm of NYC, all these little parks that are found in a walk.
What is the statue at the bottom of the park?

A park, for logic, would have to be available to all the persons. The parkes bench are made in order to receive children, mothers, sweethearts, ... The photo is beautiful and evocative.

That is indeed a lovely shot! Interesting, too. I didn't know that there were private parks. But it makes sense.

It doesn't seem right to have a private park. Great photo and food for thought.

Hi everyone,

(According to Wikipedia, the sculpture in the center is Edwin Booth a well-known actor of the 19th century. He was also the the brother of John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of Abraham Lincoln. His mansion still stands at number 16, and is today the home of the Players' Club.)

We have several private parks in Cheltenham and one in Gloucester that only residents have access to. They don't look as good as this one though.
You got a better picture than I did when I took a photo through a fence! (see today!)

It looks very private. Good job of sticking your camera through the fence...glad you didn't drop it.

When I was in Property Management, we managed Gated Communities where only owners had the keys.

I thought you have "special access" to the park. :-)
