Another Otterness Statue

You may remember that I showed some works by the artist Tom Otterness. Here's another that I saw in Brooklyn Heights. I don't know the name of it, so you'll have to use your imagination. The building that you see in the background is owned by the Jehovah's Witness, a religious sect that owns a huge amount of real estate in that part of Brooklyn and has its worldwide headquarters there.

Neat shot from the front quarter!

That looks like it belongs out west?!? Looks very "Little House on the Prarie"-ish.

Looks as if its been scrambled on and played with a lot. I like the bike pic, I suspect the city dept comes along every so often and clears them up, maybe they go for auction.

My first reaction today was that here is the artist calling to mind perhaps Thomas Hart Benton's The Oregon Trail, but as only the playful Otterness could do it! And situated in a new frontier for many, the heart of Brooklyn. (The uncut grass adds to the effect!)

I had seen an Otterness at Brooklyn's Metrotech Center a number of years ago (aligator emerging from manhole) and was captivated by it but did not know about the artist and only discoved him through your earlier posts. Thank you Lori!

I love the sculptures. They look like they belong on a playground. How fun!

The buildings in the background intersted me as I have a good friend who is a JW. Too bad it doesn't say "Read the Bible" instead of the Watchtower.
