Giant Whale

I went along with some out of town visitors to the American Museum of Natural History this weekend. One of the galleries there has a model of a giant blue whale where I took this photo. I believe it is called the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life. It makes quite an impression in person. Someone told me that they have a program where people can sleep over in the museum and this is where they spend the night. Sounds like it would be fun for kids.

Yes, museums are always good fun, no matter how old you are.

I would love to visit this museum. Your photo has really caught my eye. The dark blue through the sklylight really sets off this photo.

Neat shot! Looks like the whale jumped out of the water.

I think they started that sleepover program after that movie came out. They do it here too. What did you say you were shooting with again? It is time for me to upgrade.

It has been years since I have been there; before the exhibit hall was remodeled. The old whale was posed less dramatically as the new. Again, your photograph makes me want to return to a familiar place for a new look.

I wonder if the guides ever tell the story of Noah and the Whale to the kids....probably not in a public museum.

He's one big fish.

Another well composed shot. The blue of the sky is a nice contrast to the interior. Love the shape of the whale! It was an interesting shot even before I read the description.

When I was a kid growing up in the Bronx and Brooklyn, the museum I went to most often [on school trips] was the Natural History, and I always loved it. Your beautiful whale photo reminds me that I should check it out again (every 40 years whether I need it or not!). Just looked through all your pictures from May-August. Great work and very nice descriptions. Tell that insulting character who discouraged you from blogging to go crap in a hat. You are a talented and cordial member of the blogosphere and I enjoy coming back to see your work - and marvel at how you fully take advantage of all the city has to offer (I'm still mainly in the Tower...). Warmest regards
