Over the weekend I was in Red Hook, Brooklyn and I came across this colorful door to the local firehouse. I've never seen a firehouse door decorated like this before and it drew my eye. Red Hook is a cool neighborhood with a very industrial past, but which is now home to many artists and a new pier for the cruise ships. It is also home to a new Ikea store, which was controversial at first but now seems to be very popular. It was my first visit to Red Hook and I really liked it.

That is the best firehouse door I have ever seen....
Really catching and certainly makes you notice it. IKEA eh, do they do lovely breakfasts like ours??
très belle cette peinture murale sur la caserne des pompiers. des photos de red hook pour voir comment ils changent ?
this beautiful mural on the fire. photos of red hook to see how they change?
Don't think i"ve seen a firehouse door like that in Honolulu either.
Very cool!
Made me think of my son who is a firefighter! But their door is not so colorful!!
Agree with all, the firehouse door is "cool." Red Hook, known in the middle of the last century as a gritty neighborhood, tough on outsiders, has certainly had a rebirth.
I've never seen a fire house door like this either. I think it is amazing. You captured the vibrant colors. Wonderful photo.
That is a piece of art in itself - door or not. Nice photo.
That's quite a door!
That's awesome!
I like this door. I mostly like the artist's rendering of the sign. That is a super sign. And your photography of it is special too.
Ooo! I like it too.
I'm thinking maybe we need to paint some murals on our concret block barns and brighten them up a bit. Maybe a good project for next year.
Outstanding find, and a good photo. I'll bet there's more of these scattered around NYC. A possible series???
Great artwork on the door.u
