Atlantic City

I'm showing another photo today that is not from NYC. I visited Atlantic City this weekend to celebrate the birthday of two friends. Atlantic City is a little over 2 hours south of New York on the Jersey shore. This is a shot of the boardwalk on what was a rainy and foggy day and unfortunately you can't see the ocean in the background. But a fun time was still had by all!

Thanks for taking me again, to a place I've never been, and probably won't in my lifetime.

Love coming and seeing your travels.

Yes I echo Wandas comment. For me Atlantic City always conjures up images of Springsteen and boxing matches. I think maybe its been used in a few songs and my imagination runs a bit wild. If you have some more pics of it I would love to see them.

I told myself at Christmas, although I would spend a day Atlanta City. You'll go by train or bus?

I really want to go there and will some day. Like I said before, I really like the fog. Great picture.

It looks like the bad weather did not keep the people from walking outside.

My impression of Atlantic City is an east coast Las Vegas.

Glad the wet weather didn't dampen your celebrations. Great shot :)

Hello everyone and thanks for your comments today! (Yes, Atlantic City is a bit like the east coast Las Vegas but on a much smaller scale.)

Olivier, I went there by car but yes, it's possible to go by bus or by train. I think the bus is probably easier from NYC than the train.

You know, I went once to Atlantic City and had a dreadful time. Well a good time because I was in good company and the weather was nice. But dreadful because I was unbelievably disappointed. I found it very sad. Somehow, in my mind, I had pictured it as an old station balnéaire (seaside resort?), with old buildings with tons of charms. And beautiful old fashioned houses. I guess I expected a mix between Deauville and Newport, R.I.

Really nice photo. I was there about 15 years ago. I really like this photo.

Hi Lori - I found you through NYC Daily Photo. AC for me is so bittersweet - I remember going there as a child in the early 60s - the Steel Pier, the diving horse, American Bandstand - good memories, it was a wonderful place. Then it went into freefall in the 70s, and you didn't dare walk Atlantic Ave. unless you had a death wish. All things considered, the casinos coming in the late 70s were a good thing - at least the boardwalk is safe, and the surrounding town has improved a bit. But still - I visited two years ago - it's faded, time marches on. BTW, your photo really captures the misty feel of the boards at the beginning of summer.

Oh wow! It looks like a postcard from the 1960s.
