Here's a shot from New York's garment district (from 34th to 42nd Streets on the west side of Manhattan), where there are many fabric and accessory shops, designer's studios and wholesale clothing stores. In the photo you can see a statue of a tailor at his sewing machine, which is a tribute to the generations of workers who have made the fashion district what it is today. There's also a statue of a needle threading through a button and you can see the information kiosk for the local business improvement district.

I like the statues especially the needle and button one. Statues like the guy on the sewing machine are a great reminder for all of what went on in the area.
That's some pretty cool artwork!
Intelligent publicity.
Beautiful photograph, marvellous post!
J'adore ces deux sculptures (on peut dire que l'immense bouton est une sculpture) et j'aime ce quartier, quand je suis à NYC, je vais prendre mon petit déjeuner pas loin, presque en face ;o))
I love these two sculptures (they can say that the huge button is a sculpture) and I like this quarter, when I belong to NYC, I am going to have breakfast not far, almost opposite ;o))
Both sculptures could stand on their own merit too. When I walk by, I'd feel safer with a giant thimble next to that big needle, though! :o)
i like the statue very much, mitinic i remember my mother mother sewing with her old sewing machine !
You show such interesting views of NYC! I've never seen a photo of this before.
