Random Street Scene #2

I'm always happy when I still see small buildings with character interspersed among the skyscrapers in New York. I came across this street downtown and these buildings seemed like a reminder of a different era and were nice to see. They had a very European look to them, I thought. Anyway, that's all I've got to say about this one.

Oh Lori, I love the mixture of the old and new.

You have a wonderful picture in this one.

cela fait encore parti du charme de NYC, cette vieille maison (elle me fait penser à une brasserie ?) entre deux immeubles modernes, bien trouvé et belle photo.
it is still part of the charm of NYC, this old house (she makes me think of a brewery?) between two modern buildings, and found many beautiful picture.

I agree. While cities like New York and Philadelphia have some wonderful and exciting modern architecture, these old buildings have great character and connect us to the past.

Nice photo. I like it too.
Wouldn't it be fun to see NY City as it used to be?

I love the way the older and smaller sturctures hold their own in a city filled with modern buildings. Great contrast of old vs new.

I like the fact that the older buildings with so much history remain. The older buildings give a sense of charm. If you get a chance, check out my blog, I tagged you.

Beautiful! I love finding treasures like this, too. These buildings look very Dutch or German. Were/are they part of a German neighborhood in NYC?

It looks like downtown near Wall Street because of the narrow street and tall buildings.

Is it on Stone Street? I see Mill Street on the street sign.

That is really a great photo!
The timberframe house is very European.

I agree, especially the first two façades look very Dutch to me.

I've just started rewading your blog, and I love it! I had to comment on this picture - this is South Williams Street - Stone Street runs behind these buildings. I recognize the Wall Street Inn, the building on the left with the green awnings. I stayed there last June with my son. I love this section of town!

Keep up the great work!
