A very old tree

I love bonsai trees. I was at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden recently where they have a greenhouse full of them. The sign next to this one said it was 149 years old in the year 2000. Actually I wasn't sure if it was alive anymore. They way live so long is amazing.

Here is a view of the whole room. I wish I could grow them at home!

Hi,
You have a good eye for images and technically your work is good. One small suggestion - instead of shooting all of your photos from your eye level while standing, many of them could have been far more interesting or dramatic if you had shot from a lower point, such as kneeling or a seated position. Particularly Snowstorm Two, and the little girl. The one of the pastry chef could be great if you were a little lower, and right on eye level with the pastries. Shoot over them, keeping them in focus, with her in the background, slightly out of focus due to limited depth of field.
Good luck, Bob

Did you ever watch the film Karate Kid? In it Mr Miagi was a bonsai expert and I remember him saying that the best ones came from a small tree growing in a crack or crevice. Well I found a small ash tree growing, bonsaied and potted it up. Its still going strong, I will post a picture of it.

Sure that the bonsai is still alive? However also corpse would be a beautiful sculpture...

I love them too. I am trying to grow some myself but not having very much luck. Maybe I need to read up on it.

I love bonsai, but haven't had much luck with them. I killed the two I've tried to grow.

Bonsai growing is a hobby to be dedicated to. I agree with you, they are great to look at. Your photos of them are good.

Are they not just amazing trees?

You really captured them nicely in your photos.

I love them too but I tend to kill plants. No green thumb here.

I think bonsais need a lot of care and pruning so they are not for the impatient or busy working people.
