Untermyer Fountain

Here is a photo today of Walter Schott's statue Three Dancing Maidens found in Central Park's Conservatory Gardens. Here is some information about the gardens from the park's website:
The six-acre Conservatory Garden is Central Park's only formal garden. It takes its name from the huge glass conservatory that once stood on this same spot, built in 1898. In 1934, when maintenance of the facility had become too costly, the conservatory was demolished and replaced with the present Garden, which opened to the public in 1937. The Conservatory Garden is in fact three gardens representing different landscape styles: Italian, French, and English.
Have a nice week!

Very nice photograph. I like the statue and find it appropriate in the place it is in. Also I read the story about how to garden came to be and found that was also interesting. I was born on the same year -- 1934.

Thank you for your visits to my blog and hopefully you enjoyed seeing me as Moses.

I prefer this kind of statue/fountain to most of the modern designs I see in parks today.

That's a pretty fountain. I like the statues they have chosen to put with it. Seems fitting.

Lori, I too liked the statues…have seen similar kind of work in Chicago (Millennium Park) and I loved that work as well.

I would like to add you in my blogger buddies list if it is okay with you…:)

I adore these dancing maidens...What a delightful statue, I would sit and have lunch there if I lived close. I might even do a little dance with them!
