Looking South on Manhattan

This is a shot I took a few weeks ago looking south on Manhattan. I'm not all that happy with the photo (it was much more majestic in person!) but I'm showing it any way. I'll have to go back when it is not a hazy day. This is looking south on the Hudson river along the west side of Manhattan. I won't be around tomorrow, so I will wish everyone a happy weekend in advance! See you Monday!

moi je la trouve belle cette photo, elle montre un autre côté de NYC, et ce bateau amène un plus. Donc pas de photos de feux d'artifice snif snif ;o).
Donc avec de l'avance, je te souhaite à toi aussi un bon weekend

me I find it beautiful this photograph, it shows another side of NYC, and this boat brings one more. Thus not of photographs of fireworks snif snif ;o) . Thus with advance, I wish you with you also a good weekend

To take a slice of sky, an of water and a small slice of town. To look at all with the photographic eye of Lori... and "voilà", you will have a very evocative image! Perhaps it is not actual so easy....! Amused, ciao. :)

I love this with haze - it emphasises the yacht and the pier above the skyscrapers highlighting a true perspective.

Désolée Olivier! Je n'étais pas a NYC hier soir pour le feux d'artifice. Je n'ai pu pas assister. Peut-etre le prochaine année!

I really like it Lori, like the misty effect, the skyline in the background...I wouldn't change it a bit!

I think the haze is a plus, Lori, like this one of misty suburbia in Stockholm. I think the haze, or mist, often makes the photo more interesting. Anyway, NY is a great city - misty or clear.

An assignment for you: Some knitting Swedes are touring the USA making their marks. They have now arrived in NY. It would be great if you could locate this one in Washington Square Park and report of it!

Have a nice week-end!

Yeah, the haze can reduce an amazing photo to normal, you know?

Still, as one who's never been there, it's a great shot. And that sailing ship there looks to be quite old. Looks like something from the 19th or 18th century.

Yes, a shot of this view would probably be better in the Fall when the skies are less hazy. We have the same problem here.

The small size doesnt realy do it justice Lori. It looks better enlrged. Enjoy your weekend.

Actually this picture you taken looks rather like our (San Diego) weather here we been having in the mornings on into the early afternoons along our coastal areas.

That is a nice picture though.

I like this photograph

I would like to know well from where it is taken

It is a submarine in the foreground?

Its a nice view. I enjoy your photos of New York as they give me an unfamiliar perspective of old sights. We always get the same two or three long shots of Manhattan in films and this makes it look much greener and softer that I usually see. Your fresh eye brings a new and beautiful city to my mountain. Thanks.

Wow, that's beautiful. It's far too long since I visited the city!
