New York Public Library Reading Room

Last week I went to the main branch of the New York Public Library to see a photography exhibition. While I was there I went upstairs to look at the reading room, which I had never seen before. It was beautiful! Here is a picture of it.

The photography exhibit was great, by the way, and if you are in New York this summer, you should see it! It is called "Making the Scene: The Midtown Y Photography Gallery, 1972-1996."

Hi Lori, Thanks for visiting my site. Funny, I hadn't gave it a thought that maybe my mom is hinting for help with all those rakes.

That looks like a huge library. As you know Bellefonte's library is small. They have a nice library in State College. They moved it to a better location, called Schlow. Anyway, it's still not even close to the size of the one you posted.

It's lovely. It reminds me of the Cambridge University Library - Cambridge England..

I used you blog to introduce my sister to blogging. Her husband is from NY City and he loved the pictures. Thank you so much.

Hello all! Thanks for your comments today!

Oui, Olivier, tu as raison. C'est la bibliothéque avec les lions.

Greg, I'm glad your brother-in-law liked the photos!

Oh Lori, I love libraries! What a beautiful one. I just want to grab a book and sit down and read at those shinny tables.

Looks like tricky lighting - you did a good job!

They don't build libraries like this anymore! I love the lamps.

The NYC Public Library is gorgeous. I have been in there a couple of times only, mostly with out-of-town friends who wanted to see the inside.

Your photo of the reaading room is amazing. You captured the size and ambiance very nicely.

The Rose Reading Room is one of my favorite places. I always feel smarter and more erudite the moment I walk inside.

Wow that is one huge reading room, I kind of doubt that our main Central library has a room this size.
