Blessed Sacrament Church

This is a photo of the outside of Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church on West 71st Street in Manhattan. There are many nice churches in Manhattan, and this one has quite beautiful architecture. Here is more info from their website at http://www.blessedsacramentnyc.com/: "Over the main door of the church is a large relief modeled after a Raphael fresco in the Vatican, The Triumph of the Eucharist (The Disputation of the Sacrament). This is a companion piece to Raphael’s The Triumph of Philosophy (The School of Athens) depicting Plato, Aristotle and other Greek philosophers debating in the courtyards in the Acropolis."

Very complex decoration with several almost competing elements, the rose window, the bas relief and the statuary and molding; but it all works, that entrance is certainly welcoming!

Hope you have a fun weekend, keep warm!

Lori modern churches just don't have the beauty or presents of these beautiful old churches.
