Papal Visit

We were very lucky here in New York to have a visit from Pope Benedict XVI over the past few days and I was fortunate to be able to see him pass by along Fifth Avenue on Saturday. As you can see, he was in his popemobile and was guarded by some very serious looking guys. I had trouble getting a good shot because I wasn't all that close. A huge crowd was there to get a glimpse of him. It's not every day you get to see a Pope!

il devait y avoir foule, tu as eut de la chance de le prendre en photo. je crois qu'il a fait un discours à Ground-Zero ?

There would be crowds, you had the chance to take a picture. I think he made a speech at Ground Zero ?

In Italy it is not very beloved, but to be chosen later Giovanni Paul II was not easy for anybody.

At least you managed to get a shot of the Pope and the Pope-mobile.

At least you got a photo of him. I heard about it. I see all the guards around him wearing their sunglasses.

So that is the famous Popemobile. I always wanted to see it. Great shot dispite the security.

Its an interesting occasion and an opportunity to see him. Cardiff had a visit from the Pope about 25 years ago. Unfortunately Gordon Brown chose to visit Bush at the same time and I suspect he got very little media coverage. Bad timing.

I would feel great getting the picture you got. You will always remember the moment. P.S. It's not easy finding crawfish here, but I found them in the frozen seafood department at Walmart of all places.

As a New Yorker, I guess crowds are no big deal to you. We avoided any Pope activities in Washington to avoid the crowds. We watched it all on TV at night back at the hotel.

Wow, that is very cool, that you actually got to see the Pope and even shot your own photograph!

A great shot and it looks like you got pretty darn close! I did see him in his popemobile (on tv) with his windows down>>>>now I ask you....what good is the bullet proof glass if your windows are down?????
