Nello

To publicize the opening of the Big Apple Circus, Bello the clown did a rope walk from the David Koch Theater to Avery Fisher Hall a few weeks ago, going over the fountain at Lincoln Center. The spectators were all quite nervous!

...and I thought he was "just" a clown! These outdoor tightrope walks are always a bit riskier. But more rewarding. Philippe Petit, however, because his WTC walk was so novel and will never be repeated, is the master. Jay W

That's a good way to promote a circus! My guess is that he didn't have a safety net along the way.

BTW, I noticed from the perspective of the photograph that the photographer/aerialist was up above street level as well!
