Prometheus

One of the most familiar sights at Rockefeller Center is Paul Manship's statue of the Greek legend of Prometheus bringing fire to man. The inscription above the statue says "Prometheus, teacher in every art, brought the fire that hath proved to mortals a means to mighty ends." I've never really looked at it up close before.

Yes, made of pure gold, that is where the Federal Reserve hides the nation's gold out in the open. LOL! Looked it up and about a pound and a quarter of gold leaf over bronze, it has been stripped and new gilt applied about 5 or so times since 1934. I like the signs of the Zodiac depicted around the ring and just noticed that the ring is "engraved" on the inside as well. Good photograph.
