Electric Car

As part of its exhibit on the "Greening of NY" the Museum of the City of New York was showing this electric car, which is being integrated into Con Edison's fleet of cars. (Con Edison is our local electric company.) These cars get 30 to 40 miles on a fully charged battery, require no gas and produce no emissions directly. Plus they can be charged at a standard electrical outlet. I wish I had one! The only drawback is their maximum speed is 30 miles an hour, but still they are very cute!

voila une voiture ecologique, cela devrait etre obligatoire dans les villes , pour tous ce qui est voiture de la mairie. J'ai appris que la mairie de NYC avait demande que tous les taxis deviennent hybride (essence/électrique) c'est une bonne idée

voila ecologique's car, it should be mandatory in cities, for all that car is the town hall. I learned that the mayor of NYC had requested that all taxis are hybrid (gasoline / electric) is a good idea

With it's small size, one could park anywhere. Cute car.

This is a Miles EV. Miles makes a few different styles of vehicle. Speed and range issues are being or have already been overcome by any number of manufacturers.

Welcome to the future of the automobile.

Anyone interested in taking a peak at a very cool EV should Google the Aptera.

Yes they are good at zero emissions but it still uses a kot of energy and resources to recharge them, but a good step in the right direction. Why does a vehicle that only does 30 mph need a rear spoiler?

Great size for parking! :o) But as you hinted at, while cutting down on in-city emissions, the electric car's electricity is still produced predominently by means that simply adds to emmissions at another point west of us that eventually drifts here as well. Plus the batteries contain much lead to be mined, recycled or disposed of. :o( So at best, a good interim solution. :o\

I'm sure glad you don't have to have to have an extention cord.
