Metropolitan Life Building

I took a photo of the Metropolitan Life Building the other day when I was in Madison Square Park. There was a time when it was the tallest building in the world. It looks so beautiful at night, though I don't have a night time photo to show you. According to Wikipedia it was modeled after the Campanile in Venice.

Beautiful, stately building...I can imagine its beauty in a night time photo.

Cool dusk shot!

I like the way the top of the tower is lit like a beacon.

One of my favorites, a visual contrast to the later Deco and modern skyscrapers. I just read that the building to the left was originally intended as the base for a 100 story skyscraper, but it was cancelled by the 1929 stock market crash!
