Hot!

It was too hot to be out taking any photos, so here's one I took from the bus of one of many fire hydrants open to let people cool off. It was a scorcher over the weekend!

Bridge

Okay, last shot from my bridge trip. This is a view from the New Jersey side looking out towards the George Washington Bridge, which crosses the Hudson River and has the largest vehicular capacity of any bridge in the world. I don't think there is ever a quiet time on this bridge.

Lighthouse

I don't think I've ever looked down on the top of a lighthouse before. This is another shot from my bike ride across the GW Bridge last weekend. The little red lighthouse looks even smaller from above.

Hudson

I took a bike ride across the George Washington Bridge last weekend and that affords a spectacular view of the Hudson and Manhattan stretching out before you. It was a slightly hazy day but still the view was still nice.

Mural

I was passing the AXA Building recently and went inside and took a shot of the painting they have inside by Roy Lichtenstein called Mural with Blue Brushstroke. It's an enormous work and you can read about the artist here.

Willing to Listen

This group was in Washington Square Park with their sign Willing to Listen. I guess you can tell them your troubles. I'm not sure how much business they were getting. Have a good weekend everyone.

Keeping Cool

Since we've had some really hot days here, the fountain in Washington Square Park seems to be a popular place to keep cool. Both adults and kids were getting right in and getting wet. I was tempted to join them!

Dancers

I happened upon this mini dance performance at Columbus Circle the other day. I'm not sure why they were there. Most people didn't seem to notice them. They were quite graceful.

St. Thomas

This is a photo from the inside of St. Thomas Church, an Episcopalian Church at Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street. The church is well-known for its music and for its excellent choir of men and boys. The worship services are in the Anglican tradition. It has a beautiful and peaceful interior.

Triangle shaped building

Sorry for the long absence. I've finally taken a few pictures so I can post again (at least for a few days!) This was a building I passed recently in the west village that reminded me of a mini Flatiron building. I don't know whether it houses apartments or offices.
