You don't often see these chestnuts on the streets anymore. They used to be for sale on every corner. I was happy to see you can still find them, as I love how they smell when they are roasting. (still having technical difficulties in posting, as you can see.)

Those chestnuts are quite popular among the Japanese as well, especially during the weel-long New Year's holiday season.
They look yummy! However, don't know if I have ever tried them.
You are right - did not see any in when I was in the city last month. Even did not see or forgot to buy them in our market here to roast at home! Will see if I can find some tomorrow!

Ha! Finally noticed some when in the city yesterday. But something was wrong, the weather was too warm for roasted chestnuts, but I ate them anyway. They were good!
