Pylons

Runing low on photos again, but I found this shot I took at the Pier in Long Island City Queens. I have no idea what those colorful poles are for, or if they serve any purpose any more. Perhaps someone knows? I don't think any boats come that way any more. Anyway, they caught my eye. Enjoy your day!

Three ties and the closest I could come up with is an art installation by Figurative Sculptor Joan Benefiel mounted atop abandoned pilings, currently at the end of pier 40 in The Hudson on the West Side, but nothing about these colorful sentrys you photogrphed in the East River!

Not sure what they are for but they are a colourful addition to the dock!
