Apple Bank

Yes, I'm running out of photos again (too many rainy days in a row!) so I'm showing some ordinary things. I do think this bank is pretty cool though, and brings us back to a time when you went to a teller instead of a bank machine. This is the Apple Savings Bank on West 73rd Street and Broadway. The top of this landmarked building was turned into very expensive apartments a few years ago and the bottom still remains a bank. You aren't allowed to take pictures, so I had to quickly sneak this one!

Sneaky! :-D

Cool shot of a very nostalgic bank! Looks the days of the '20s and '30s.

Watch out! Bonnie & Clyde may be around the corner!
;-)

I love rebel picture takers, of which I am one- though I've never taken one of a bank, you are brave!
This is a beautiful building. I'm glad to know it was landmarked too.

I too like sneaky photos. I have often been told off for taking them.

A great space, you captured it well. Grander than some railroad stations, hotels or government houses. I like your clandestine style and bravado, Lori!

I was trying to visualize it before the plexiglass bullet-proof windows and bright fluorescent lights were added. The fronts of the tellers "cages" probably incorporated the same scrollwork that remains on the side. I should visit more banks! :o)
