Another view

Just to prove that the lighthouse actually is red, here's another vantage point today. As Jay pointed out in his comment yesterday this is the Jeffrey's Hook Lighthouse, which was decomissioned and was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It was the subject of the children's book called "The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge" by Hildegarde Swift and Lynd Ward, which was first published in the 1940s.

une belle perspective, on dirait qu'il nous regarde de son œil. Je vais voir si cette histoire existe en Français
a nice perspective, they would say that he looks at us of the eye. I am going to see if this history exists in Frenchman

Strangley the idea of being a lighthouse keeper on some remote storm beaten rock has always appealed to me.

Lori, when I was researching the lighthouse yesterday after seeing your beautiful photograph, I found many photos on line, but none as dynamic as this one today. Yet besides the image of the little tower with the bridge's steelwork looming above, you have showed detail that most have never seen. Art and illustration, all in one. Excellent! Jay

Hi Lori: I LOVED that book when I was a kid, it was a thrill to see the lighthouse the first time I saw it ages ago. COL
