In the New York City subway system there are many beautiful mosaics. I've always admired them, but today was the first time I've ever seen an artist creating one. This guy was in the subway station at 42nd Street Times Square and was working on a new mosaic. It was interesting to watch him work. He must have more patience than me!

Ahaaaa!!! That's why they were repainting this w.e.! You'll have to post the finished product!

Very cool! Yes, he needs a lot of patience, but isn't it a great thought to have your art work on the wall there for ... let's say, a long time?
Maybe wearing an orange vest while working on art is the secret! I'll have to try that, ;-)
He isn't what I pictured the artist to look like. My sister just returned from the City. This weekend I will meet with her and hear all about it.

OMG, I saw the walls covered in plastic about a week or so ago. I guess they finally got the mosaic work started.

I wonder if the white tile background was a preexisting feature. Did the artist have to remove then to cut out the shape for the mosaic he's working on in the photo? I'd have to say that thats not how i thought it was done. Curious.
