This is a night shot of one of the old cranes that are no longer in use along the waterfront in Long Island City Queens. Long Island City is just across the East River from Midtown Manhattan and is a great neighborhood. This crane is in Gantry Plaza State Park, a beautiful park with a great view of Manhattan as well.

I've never seen this before. It looks so festive.
magnifique cette photo de nuit, NYC prépare déjà les éclairages de noël ;).
splendid this night photograph, NYC already prepares Christmas illumination ;).
Looks like a great place to get abstract photos!
Great night perspective of a reminder of when much of the freight carried to and through the city was handled by rail/water transport and not by large trucks on city streets. However, back then, this would not be as hospitable location where respectable people strolled! Jay
No photograph today, Fri? That's OK, so I'll wish you a bright weekend here instead! Jay
Hi Lori!
Sorry for the long absence! But don’t you think it was a great vacation; some very busy weeks and just a few days off... ;)
Great nigt shot!!
Meanwhile Blogtrotter is still turning around Iceland and has been missing your comments. Enjoy and have a fabulous weekend!

Have a great weekend.

Isn't that great that those old structures are kept and are integrated into the landscapes? There's the ones on the boardwalk off Riverside Park, those in Red Oak near Ikea and here (I'd have to go find them, never been up close).
Its very unique, lights and colors are truly magnificent. I wish i could also see this old crane trucks up close.
