Chess players

One day I will learn this game. They were doing some speed chess at Union Square the other day. There were many spectators and players alike. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Statue2

Union Square Park has several statues. I didn't check but I'm guessing from the profile that this must be Abraham Lincoln. I don't think I'll go out and take any photos today since the temp is going to hit 100!

Strawberries

Strawberry season must be in full swing because they had a lot of them at the greenmarket at Union Square. They looked delicious!

Warhol Statue

There's a statue of the artist Andy Warhol displayed near Union Square by New York's Public Art Fund. The statue by the artist Rob Pruitt is on a pedestrian plaza on Broadway and is close to the location of the studio where Warhol worked. It will be on display until October.

African Art Museum

This will be the new home of the Museum of African Art at Fifth Avenue and 110th Street. I think it is opening in the fall of this year. I really like the architecture and the colors. You can read more about it here.

Soho Street

I love the old cobble-stoned streets in Soho. There are lots of nice places to window shop around there. Maybe I'll do some this weekend. I hope you have a good one!

Persian Ceiling

This is another photo from the Chihuly exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. This is from a work called Persian Ceiling. The glass was just amazing in such interesting colors and shapes.

Chihuly

I took in a fantastic exhibit of works by the glass artist Dale Chihuly on my trip to Boston over the weekend. It was a wonderful show, if you happen to be near the Museum of Fine Arts. In the background of this photo are native American blankets collected by the artist, who took a great deal of inspiration from the American Southwest.

Enjoy the memorial day weekend and do something relaxing, like this couple in the park. See you next week!

Jose Marti

This is the statue of Jose Marti the Cuban patriot and author, which is located in Central Park. I believe the flowers were marking the anniversary of his death on May 19, 1895. I'm afraid I don't know much about him.
