Well framed image, Lori! And good question posed by Olivier...the web says: "The Football Association" was formed in London in 1863, (the year of the great schism between rugby and football AKA soccer), and the term "soccer" appeared in England shortly after, being an abbreviation from "Football Association" (from assoc.), "a short, light form" credited to an Oxford student it seems, who preferred versions of words with "er" on the end. Much earlier, when the original rules games became popular in the US, the same name "football" was used for a game similar to in England, which was kept, even as North Americans did not adopt the later no-hands rules of "football". Much later, when football(soccer) began to be played in the US, coaches simply used the older English abbreviated word soccer to distinguish the two. Never knew all that!
I love to take pictures and am trying to learn about photography. I hope this blog will inspire me to take more photos of the world around me and become a better photographer. Thanks for visiting!

cela fait autant bizarre de voir du soccer aux États Unis que du Foot Us en France.
