Soho Photo Shoot

I was walking in Soho over the weekend and came across this photographer and her subject. So I snapped my own photo. (They seemed to be attracting a lot of attention!) I hope this week is a good one for everyone.

Favorite Flower

This was my favorite flower from a recent visit to the New York Botanical Garden. I have no idea what type of flower, I just liked the color and shape of it and I thought I would share it with you all. Have a great weekend and see you Monday!

Kayaking

Another photo I took during my run last week...this is of people getting ready to take a kayak ride in the Hudson. During the warmer months, free kayak rides are offered through the Downtown Boathouse. (http://www.downtownboathouse.org/) You can take out a kayak for a half-an-hour and it's really fun!

Tugboat Races

The weekend before last I went for a run in Riverside Park and I happened upon the Tugboat Races, which take place every year in New York. The tugboats race up the Hudson River from lower Manhattan, then stop, turn around and race back down. This was on the leg of the race back downtown. I believe some of the tugboats are historic ones which are on view at the South Street Seaport. They also have a tugboat pushing contest, but I didn't see that one. I was glad I happened to bring my camera along that day!

World Trade Center

This is a picture of visitors to the World Financial Center looking out over the former World Trade Center site. I took this photo a few months ago, but thought it might be an appropriate post for today.

Monday Night Football

I went past this billboard a few weeks ago and thought it might be a good picture for a Monday post. So I figured why not today, on the first day of Monday Night Football. Enjoy the season to all the football fans out there! Have a good week everyone!

Future U.S. Open Players

I love to go see some of the U.S. Open matches, but unfortunately I haven't made it there this year. I did see some of the Open related activities they had around the city, including screens showing the tennis live at Rockefeller Center and Madison Square Park. This was a tennis clinic for kids at Madison Square Park. It looks like it was fun. I wish I was going to the finals this weekend! Have a good one and see you Monday!

Summer Favorites

One reason I'm sorry to see summer go is I will miss all the delicious summer vegetables in the farmer's markets. (These pictures are from the Union Square market last weekend.) My favorites are tomatoes and corn, and the peaches too. Oh well, at least we'll have some for a few more weeks!

Coney Island Beach

Monday was the last day that the beaches and public pools were open in New York so there were a lot of people out enjoying the beach at Coney Island. It was such a beautiful day. (I read that one of the lifeguards at the Coney Island beach had to rescue a little shark that had gotten too close to shore that day. I'm glad I didn't see any sharks!)

Farewell to summer!

Cyclone

There's been talk recently that the amusement park at Coney Island would close this year. I hope it doesn't because we would lose a part of New York history. In case it does close, I visited this weekend to take a few pictures. I rode the cyclone once a while back, but unfortunately not this time!

(Sorry for no post yesterday, for some reason I couldn't get blogger to cooperate.)
