Sunrise

A sunrise photo from a year ago...running low on photos now. This used to be the view from my old apartment, I miss it! I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

East river

A view of Manhattan as seen from Queens. I believe those buildings in the foreground may be Stuyvesant Town, the large complex of residential buildings near 20th Street (but correct me if I'm wrong!)

Trees

I'm not sure why anyone would want to deface a tree like this. Leaving their mark for all posterity I guess. This tree was in Fort Tryon Park in northern Manhattan.

Palm Court

This is the Palm Court in the Plaza Hotel. I didn't have tea there, was just passing through. Maybe another time! I loved the beautiful ceiling.

Streak across America

I happened to walk past the Dell Streak across America event. Not sure what these mannequins had to do with Dell computers. Anyway, I didn't take the chance to decorate a mannequin as some were doing.

Leaves

Some fall leaves seen on an electronic billboard in midtown recently. I hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Spires

Some of the spires (is that what they are called?) at St. Patrick's Cathedral in midtown. It's a well-known landmark in NYC, which you are all most likely familiar with, although this photo was taken from the back side of the cathedral on Madison Avenue. The cathedral takes up a whole city block between 50th and 51st Streets and Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue.

Wedding 2

...and here is the groom (I presume) on his horse. What a colorful celebration! I wish I had been a guest!

Wedding

Over the weekend we stumbled upon this wedding which began in Central Park and then proceeded up Broadway. (At least we think it was a wedding!) I think that was the groom in the center of the photo.

GWB

This was the the eastern side of the George Washington Brigde on Saturday, with a flag in honor of those lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Fashion Week

I passed by the entrance to the new location for Fashion Week, which moved from Bryant Park to Lincoln Center this year. I wish I could have made it inside! I'd love to see a fashion show some day.

Chrysler building

Sorry I missed posting yesterday! This is a photo I took recently while browsing at Lord and Taylor on Fifth Avenue. They have a nice view of the Chrysler building which you can see peeking out in the middle. Enjoy your day!

Street writing

These markings on the street caught my eye recently. I'm not sure what they mean, some instructions for Con Edison I suppose. Wish I could have gotten a closer shot.

Skyline

A view of the Manhattan skyline as seen from Long Island City, Queens to end the week. Enjoy this last weeked of summer!!

Window

This is a photo taken from inside the Cloisters, the branch of the Met Museum dedicated to Medieval art, that I mentioned yesterday. The museum is located in northern Manhattan in Fort Tryon Park, and you can see the Hudson River in the background of this picture. It's a lovely setting. I don't know much about the stained glass, other than it came from a church in Europe I believe.

Man's Best Friend

This dog was awaiting the return of its master in Fort Tryon Park in Northern Manhattan. Fort Tryon Park is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year. It's a lovely park with some beautiful gardens and is home to the Cloisters, the branch of the Metropolitan Museum dedicated to Medieval art.
