Alwyn Court

I've always enjoyed looking at the intricate stone work on this building, the Alwyn Court on 7th Avenue in midtown Manhattan. The ground floor of the building houses Petrossian the restaurant known for it's caviar.

Christmas in June

These figures seem to grace the window of this building in Chelsea (near Madison Square Park) year round. I think the store must sell Christmas decorations but I couldn't find any info. Maybe their outfits will make us remember winter on a warm summer day.

Cupola

This building with a golden cupola on Fifth Avenue near the flatiron building has always interested me. I'd love to take a peek inside! Do you see the little statue? That's part of the exhibition of sculptures by artist Antony Gormley in and around Madison Square Park.

Doorway

This doorway was in a very nice neighborhood so I'm not sure if it's meant to be artistic perhaps. Anyway it caught my eye. Have a great weekend!

Bridge

This is a sunset view of the Brooklyn Bridge seen from the Brooklyn neighborhood of DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass.) There's a great art stroll there the first Thursday of each month when the artists in the area open their studios to visitors. You can read more about it here.

Roses

The roses were in full bloom at the New York Botanical Garden last weekend. I think they were at their peak earlier this year. It was quite a sight!

Connected Buildings

I'm always curious about these connectors between buildings and wonder if they are still in use. I'll have to try and get in and find out! This one was in Chelsea, I believe. Enjoy your weekend!

Arthur Avenue

This is a shot from the Arthur Avenue market in the Bronx. Arthur Avenue is known as the "Little Italy" of the Bronx with lots of cafes, restaurants and delis and nice places to buy bread and cheeses. It's located on Arthur Avenue around 187th Street in the Bronx.

Poem

This is an example of one of the poems of Emily Dickinson displayed at the New York Botanical Garden among the types of flowers and plants that she grew at her home and that inspired her writing. You can read more about the exhibit here.

The Homestead

This is the view from the Homestead, the poet Emily Dickinson's home, recreated as part of an exhibit about her gardens at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. It's a lovely exhibit, interspersing her poetry, much of which was inspired by nature, with flowers and plants. You can read more about on the New York Botanical Garden's website.
